Plastic Welding
Miyachi Europe along with welding of metals offer laser welding of thermoplastic polymers. The method of plastic welding is primarily for lap welding configurations and relies upon the laser being transmitted by one material and absorbed by the other. Welding occurs as the laser absorbing material conducts heat to the transmissive material, and under the action of force the bond is formed.

Figure 1 Schematic representation of the welding process. (1) Parts are clamped (2) Laser heats underlying material (3) The underlying material in turn heats the top material (4) The weld cools and solidifies.

Plastic Welding Applications
Miyachi Europe gladly accepts a wide range of samples made of plastic material. Once examined by a laser welding specialist a recommendation will be given which laser welding product is suitable to process the sample. The surface, the thickness and the property of the plastic material have a major influence on the result expected. Feel free to consult either one of our technology centers for more details.
Our proven technologies enable the Automotive, Electronics & Solar Cells, IT & Multimedia, Medical, Aerospace and Defence industries to supply a variety of applications in plastic welding.
