Electrostatic Discharge or ESD

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) is a spark, like a miniature flash of lightning, that jumps from one charged conductive surface to another conductive surface. This very rapid movement of astatic (not moving) charge can cause fire, explosions, EMI, RF, heat, light and even noise. It can cause irreparable damage to electronics. Therefore, these invisible, inaudible and often unnoticed sparks need to be controlled.

The term ESD is used in the electronics industry and other industries to indicate  temporary adverse movements that can cause damage to electronic equipment.

ESD is a significant issue in solid state electronics such as integrated circuits. Integrated circuits are made from semiconductor materials such as silicon and insulating materials such as silicon dioxide. Both of these materials can suffer permanent damage when exposed to high voltages. As a result, there are now several antistatic devices that help prevent static build up.

AMADA WELD TECH provides a range of ESD control products, such as ESD Packaging, products for personnel grounding, test & measuring equipment, cleaning products and many more.
