Brazing

There are three kinds of bonds: solid state, fusion and soldering.
While the solid state weld method brings the temperature up to 70 or 80% of the melting point the Fusion method makes both metals melt and mix.
Brazing is a kind of soldering method done at >400°C. A common brazing material is Silphos (L-Ag15P).
Miyachi Europe has recently provided an application to join cables of a large dimension for the automotive industry. The two step process consists of brazing and compacting. The proven application is a so called intelligent battery sensor which allows battery power management. The result is a robust joint with very high strength and perfect electrical connection over product lifetime. The cable is contacted directly to the sensor tab without any additional part.
